Rolls-Royce began as a British motor company in 1906, and became renowned for superior engineering and luxury. In 1904 Henry Royce made his first car, a two-cylinder Royce 10. That same year he met Charles Rolls who was so impressed by the Royce 10 he agreed to sell all the cars Royce could make. There were originally to be four models, all badged as Rolls-Royces, but the decision was made to focus on one model, the 40/50 that later became known as the Silver Ghost. The Silver Ghost was referred to as the best car in the world after faultlessly completing the 1913 Alpine Trail.
