German automaker Porsche’s model list reads like a who’s who of sports car history. Prior to World War II, however, Porsche was responsible for the design of the immensely popular Volkswagen Beetle. Porsche also developed military vehicles until post-War upheaval turned the company into a manufacturer of small, sporty coupes and roadsters using parts from the Beetle for lack of manufacturing capacity and raw materials in Germany at the time.
