With their eye-catching architecture and substantial historical
significance, pre-WWII Ford Coupes have long been a coveted
foundation for the handiwork of countless classic car enthusiasts,
and this 1937 shows the results of that handiwork done right. With
its all-steel body dressed in red paint that holds a nice shine and
wears painted flames extending backward from its front end, this is
a classic that can't help but attract attention. It has an
appealing, low-slung stance that leaves enough ground clearance for
driving in everyday conditions, enhanced by a set of staggered
15"/17" American Racing wheels. Just as importantly, if not more
so, its well-configured drivetrain, along with some top-tier
mechanical components, makes this venerable cruiser every bit as
fun to drive as it is to look at.
Inside the doors is a comfortable, well-appointed interior, with
two-tone upholstery covering a pair of contoured bucket seats and
matching door panels to each side. Climb in, lower yourself into
position, and you'll find a set of Classic Instruments gauges on
hand with parchment-colored faces and a font very much in keeping
with this awesome ride's vintage identity. A Lokar shifter is
perched within easy reach on the center console, which includes a
pair of cupholders that will come in handy during longer journeys.
A Jensen AM/FM/CD stereo with an auxiliary port is also on hand to
offer plenty of audio options as you embark on those journeys.
A healthy 350-cubic-inch V8, fed by an Edelbrock four-barrel
carburetor via a polished intake manifold from the same
manufacturer, teams with a 3-speed automatic TH350 transmission to
form a rock-solid drivetrain. And because this Coupe rides on a
Mustang II front suspension, it's effortlessly navigated by precise
rack and pinion steering and features disc brakes up front to
provide fade-resistant stops. An upgraded aluminum radiator pairs
with an electric fan assembly to help keep this vintage Ford from
losing its cool in more trying driving conditions.
