Some cars need no introduction. Heralded as one of, if not the
pinnacle of import sports cars, this 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R R33
is a sight to behold. Decked out in Spark Silver paint, this
first-year fourth-generation GT-R shows off its aerodynamic body
kit, big rear deck spoiler, roll cage, and exemplifies what a true
street racer can and should be.
Inside, we find a traditional right-hand-drive black cloth
interior. A set of new Sparco seats is separated by a center
console, while a power-assisted Momo steering wheel sits ahead of a
320 km/h speedometer and 11,000-rpm tachometer. A trio of Defi
auxiliary gauges sits on the center stack above an upgraded Pioneer
AM/FM/AUX/Satellite/Bluetooth touchscreen head unit. Power, locks,
windows, and mirrors, along with air conditioning, offer most of
the modern amenities available in the mid-1990s.
Under the hood, we find the legendary RB26DETT 2.6-liter DOHC
turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine. Although Nissan abided by
the "gentlemen's agreement" that Japanese sports cars would only
make 276-horsepower, this Skyline GT-R, like many others, did make
276 hp; it just happened to also make a lot more. Whatever the
number, those ponies are routed through an FMX five-speed manual
transmission before being sent out to all four corners, thanks to
the GTR's stellar all-wheel drive system.
