When it debuted back in 1955, the Ford Thunderbird was a fun-loving
two-seat roadster that captured the hearts and minds of auto
enthusiasts (and non-enthusiasts) everywhere. And while subsequent
generations of the T-Bird each had their strengths and weaknesses,
it wasn't until the eleventh generation that Ford rediscovered the
charm of being America's Personal Luxury Car. Half a century later,
we are treated to this 2005 Ford Thunderbird. While not an official
Anniversary Edition, this final-year T-Bird still commemorates the
iconic roadster's half-century birthday with a subtle chrome hood
accent blade. With only 34,356 actual miles on its odometer, this
Thunderbird comes decked out in its Bronze Metallic paint, complete
with a full PPF application, making it look almost new, and just as
collectible as any other T-Bird in history.
Inside, we find a stock and elegant Light Oak Imola leather
interior. A center console featuring dual cupholders separates a
pair of power and heated bucket seats. Power windows, locks,
mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, and a power
tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel make this generation far more
livable on a day-to-day basis than the original version of the
T-Bird it was based on. A six-disc in-dash CD changer pumps sound
through the 8-speaker, dual-subwoofer premium stereo system and is
powerful enough to be heard whether you are going with the power
soft top up or down or the removable body-color hardtop on or
off.
Under the hood, we find an original-looking 3.9-liter Jaguar-built
DOHC AJ30 V-8 with variable valve timing and electronic throttle
control. In stock form, this engine produces 280 horsepower and 286
pound-feet of torque, which are routed through its 5R55S five-speed
automatic transmission before being sent to the rear wheels via the
3.58-rear-end.

wheels, shod in 235/50R-17 BFGoodrich tires. Four-wheel power disc
brakes scrub off speed with ease, no matter how fast the wind
happens to be whipping through your hair. Along with being the
final year of the Thunderbird (to date), this 2005 model is the
lowest-volume model of the 11th generation, adding to its
