Silver, black, and ready for fun, this 1983 Jeep CJ7 V8 is built
for whatever the road or trail throws its way. With a proper 4x4
setup and plenty of ground clearance, this CJ7 is ready to crawl
over just about anything. Pair that capability with a
high-performance V8, and you've got the recipe for adventure... or
a little trouble... or maybe both. The exterior has the rugged look
a CJ should have. Both the front and rear bumpers are solid, while
the headlights, taillights, grille, and tailgate all present well.
A soft bikini top and soft removable doors keep the Jeep true to
its open-air roots, while an aftermarket Bully side step makes
climbing in and out a bit easier.
Inside, the cabin keeps things simple and functional-just the way a
trail-ready Jeep should be. The floor is coated with a spray-in
bedliner, making cleanup quick and easy after a muddy day off-road.
Up front are vinyl and cloth racing-style bucket seats featuring a
diamond-cut pattern with red stitching for a sporty touch. In the
rear, the stock bench seat remains in place and in good condition.
A center console with dual cupholders provides added convenience
and storage. The floor-mounted shifter, topped with a
baseball-style shift knob, falls easily to hand, and the 4x4
shifter levers are right next to it. An aftermarket steering wheel
adds a performance feel, while a set of AutoMeter gauges mounted to
the right keeps vital engine information clearly in view.
Under the hood is where this CJ7 really comes alive. Power comes
from a stout 350 cubic-inch BluePrint V8 crate engine equipped with
aluminum cylinder heads, a hydraulic roller camshaft, and a Holley
Brawler 4-barrel carburetor. That power is sent through a Borg
Warner 4-speed manual transmission to the rear axle-or both axles
when 4x4 is engaged. The lifted stock-style suspension with manual
locking hubs gives this Jeep both the stance and capability it
deserves. Rolling on 15-inch wheels wrapped in aggressive
35x12.50R15LT tires, it has the look and traction to match the
power. Stopping duties come from front power disc brakes and rear
power drum brakes, while wrapped long-tube headers, dual exhaust,
and Flowmaster mufflers provide the unmistakable Jeep V8
soundtrack.
