Few vehicles in the history of the autoverse will turn heads as
quickly as a well-executed, chopped-and-dropped restomod. With its
fully custom fiberglass body, bulging fenders, and shaved handles,
this 1948 Chevrolet 3100 LS Restomod has been painted in a deep,
glossy black. That mirror finish stretches across its extended cab,
while a custom tailgate and hard tonneau cover give this truck a
far sleeker profile than when it rolled off the assembly line.
Inside, we find a nicely done, custom black vinyl interior. A
custom center console provides storage while separating a pair of
late-model, supportive bucket seats. A power-assisted, Billet
Specialties steering wheel sits on a tilt column and just ahead of
a single, large 140-mph speedometer. Fuel, temperature, volts, and
oil pressure are efficiently displayed within a single large bezel
at the base of the center stack, while Vintage Air HVAC controls
and power window switches are all thoughtfully placed in a unique
custom setup. A Pioneer AM/FM/AUX offers Bluetooth connectivity,
while the rear suicide doors make ingress and egress easy for any
rear passengers who want to be a part of this exciting ride.
Under that expansive steel hood, we find a modern 5.7-liter LS1 V-8
engine. With its aluminum block and heads, composite manifold,
individual coil packs, and electronic fuel injection, spent gases
are expelled through a stock-style manifold before ultimately
exiting through a trick side-exit exhaust. That power is routed
through a 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission before heading
out to a rear end that transfers those ponies to the pavement via a
set of polished 20-inch Detroit Steel-style wheels shod in modern
white-wall tires.
