This 1963 Ford Galaxie XL wears an outstanding glossy purple paint
job that immediately grabs attention. Paired with brightwork that's
in good condition, Cragar chrome wheels, and solid front and rear
grilles, this Galaxie truly pops. Paint-matched front and rear
bumpers and the teardrop cowl-induction hood add even more visual
punch. The body is straight, with no deep rust and no major damage.
All badges and trim are present and properly placed. This is a very
fun and undeniably cool car.
Inside, the dark blue interior contrasts nicely with the high-gloss
purple exterior. The seats and door panels are in good shape, and
the cockpit has a clean, purposeful feel. A Grant aftermarket
steering wheel sits front and center, backed by a full set of
AutoMeter gauges. A custom center console houses a Hurst shifter,
with additional AutoMeter gauges mounted just ahead of it. A Retro
Sound AM/FM/Cassette stereo provides tunes, while the dashboard
remains solid with no cracks or fading. The door jambs and seals
are clean, and the trunk is spacious, clean, and carpeted.
Under the hood, things are busy but well organized. Power comes
from a 390 cubic inch V8 cooled by a Derale performance radiator
with dual electric fans. An Edelbrock electronic fuel injection
system and high-rise intake keep the fuel flowing strong. A Tremec
TKO 5-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear axle.
Suspension consists of stock-style front A-arms and shocks, with
rear leaf springs and shocks. Stopping is handled by front and rear
power disc brakes with an electric vacuum pump booster and master
cylinder. Posted at all four corners are 15-inch Cragar wheels
wrapped in front BFGoodrich 235/60R15 and rear BFGoodrich 275/60R15
tires. The Galaxie also rumbles nicely thanks to long-tube headers,
dual exhaust, and Turbo mufflers. And for when you really want the
engine to scream, exhaust cutouts are installed.
