Rare, fast, and fun are traits that add up to the ideal collector
car. Along with that trifecta of traits, this 1994 Pontiac Firebird
Trans Am Convertible also comes to us with being owned by the same
family since it was new, and showing just 137,287 actual miles on
its odometer. Its original body panels and Arctic White exterior
paint are both believed to be original. While exact numbers are
fuzzy, reliable sources agree that finding a non-anniversary
edition Trans Am convertible in Arctic White is an incredibly rare
vehicle by any account.
With its power top up or down, this Trans Am's original Graphite
leather interior offers a power seats complete with lumbar support.
A power-assisted and padded steering wheel offers thumb controls
for the radio and cruise control, along with a clear view of the
7,000 rpm tachometer and 150 mph speedometer flanked by four
smaller auxiliary gauges on either side. The original-style AC
Delco AM/FM/Cassette player and easy-to-use analog HVAC controls
are well-placed on the center stack, while power locks, mirrors,
windows, and air conditioning offer all the amenities one could
want in a modern mid-1990s muscle car.
Under that long, sleek hood, we find a believed original
350-cubic-inch LT1 V-8 engine tucked neatly between the front
fenders. Thanks to sequential port fuel injection and aluminum
heads, this small block produced a healthy (and reportedly
underrated) 275 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque when it
rolled off the assembly line. Those ponies are routed through a
4L60E four-speed automatic transmission before heading out to the
3.23-geared limited-slip rear end. A set of beautiful eighteen-inch
C6 Z06-style chrome wheels are shod in Z-rated high-performance
rubber.
