Here is a 1940 Ford Coupe that is a straight shooter. The
period-correct antique paint green job is hard to find these days.
When combined with the red painted wheels, chrome-plated center
hubcaps, beauty rings, and white wall tires, you have a very
classic look. The black running boards and chromed out bumpers look
great, as do all the rest of the chrome-plated pieces on the
outside, like the front grille, moldings, side mirrors, and the
tailpipes that stick out just perfectly. All the bodylines and
curves on this 1940 Ford Coupe are a lost art, and should be on
display at car cruises and car shows.
The interior looks to be very comfortable and period correct. It's
mostly tan and brown outside of the big black steering wheel, some
shiny dashboard trim, and the rubberized flooring. The bench seats
are in good shape, redone five-six years ago. The door panels also
look like they were done at the same time, and the painted brown
portions of the interior, like the dash, are still shining and
looking good. The dashboard has its original configuration with
gauges, and an aftermarket set of gauges are in place for heat,
temp, volts, and fuel.
The engine bay looks immaculate. It hosts a 305 cubic-inch V8 with
a 2-barrel carb, and that pairs up with a TH350 3-speed automatic
transmission. The suspension on this old-timer uses front shocks
with a sway bar and rear leaf springs. White wall 205/75R15 tires
are used for traction and stance purposes, and a matching spare
tire is in the trunk. For stopping this heavy steel car, the Ford
uses drum brakes at all four corners. And for exhaust, it's a nice
brand-new dual layout that should last a long time.
