This 1965 Backdraft RT4 roadster was completed by Vintage Motorsports in North Haven, CT in 2023 and has accumulated under 300 miles. It is powered by a Ford 427ci V8 engine built by D1 Auto Machine producing 585hp and 550 ft/lbs of torque. This engine features a Dart block, AFR heads, all-forged internals, roller rockers and a hydraulic roller camshaft. A Holley Sniper 2.0 Fuel Injection System provides modern driving characteristics. The engine is mated to a TREMEC TKX 5-speed manual transmission with a McLeod twin-disc clutch and a QuickTime steel bellhousing.
The VMS oil cooler system with a thermostat and remote filter mount supports the cooling system, which also includes an upgraded aluminum radiator and shroud. This RT4 features full coilover suspension in the front and rear. The IRS includes a Ford Super 8.8-inch differential, and steering is power-assisted, as are the 4-wheel disc brakes. The wheels are 18 inches and fitted with 335 rear tires. The exterior has been finished in a very tasteful and unique Lamborghini Marrone Alcestis with Ferrari Grigio Ingrid Stripes and Tobacco Leather Interior.
A tan cloth soft top is included with side curtains. Paint protection film has been applied to the complete nose, the doors, and the rear. All the lighting has been upgraded to LED including Holley RetroBright Classic headlights. Both seats are heated for additional comfort and a heater is also installed. Gauges have been upgraded to Autometer Cobra style and the dash features the glove box option from Backdraft. The radiator has been upgraded to aluminum for additional cooling and the aluminum fuel tank runs an internal fuel pump. Billet reservoirs under-the-hood provide ease of maintenance for all necessary fluids. The engine has been treated to a polished trim package. Headers and sidepipes with heatshields have been ceramic coated as well.
