For Sale: 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Station Wagon in Des Moines, Iowa

This is a very special 1970 station wagon, it is a award winning grocery getter that has been featured in numerous magazines and has won Best of Show in several regional shows. We were very fortunate when, Donna Rabe, the wife of the builder, Jerry Rabe, gave us a call at American Dream Machines and wanted us to buy this amazing car after Jerry's recent passing. This was Jerry and Donna's pride and joy and they treated it like a member of the family; Jerry made owing a station wagon cool. The car was professionally painted a misty metallic blue with lots of SS options added like an SS cowl hood with SS stripes and SS 454 emblems, new bumpers, new SS grill and beautiful glass all the way around. Under the hood of this misty blue masterpiece, is, built for Power-Tour, 454 engine with plenty of power matched with a 700R4 transmission and backed by the factory 3.30 geared posi-traction rear end that's great for highway cruising and averaging 18 MPH if you can keep your foot off of the gas.
The engine compartment is chromed out with the 454 attached to newer ceramic coated headers and hooked up Flowmaster D-40 mufflers for that beefy sound. It is optioned with power steering, power disc brakes, big block spring and a Hotchkis heavy duty sway bar were added to the front end. The interior has all been redone and is in amazing shape, Jerry chose new Saddle interior because it stayed cooler at the hot shows and had a clean look to it.
New seat covers, carpet, head liner, side panels and door panels were just part of the interior renovation. I don't know if the Rabes ever slept under the stars in the back of this rig, but I'm sure a full size bed could be made when the seats are folded down. The Malibu sweep dash long gone. New Dolphin guages were professionally installed and look amazing with the night glow cruising down the highway on newer 8 inch Corvette rally rims and BFG white letter radial tires.
