1969 Chevrolet Chevelle COPO Back in 1969, dealers had to read
between the lines to understand what options could be ordered from
the Chevrolet assembly plant. During that time, General Motors
would not allow over 400 CI engines to be installed in their
mid-size and sport car models. Along came the COPO (Central Office
Production Order) process which was used by the select few dealers
who wanted the hottest performance engines stuffed in their
favorite GM muscle car. Head office frowned upon the COPO process
and tried to make it not known to the public. The displacement ban
was lifted in 1970 which has made the 1969 Chevelles and Camaros
with 427 CI engines some of the most desirable collector cars to be
produced by the factory. The car being offered here takes that
rarity even further, as it is an export model documented by GM of
Canada, reportedly 1 of 22 built for sale on the Canadian market.
Factory built in July of 1969, this ultra-rare COPO Chevelle was
built at the Baltimore, MD, production plant to be sold at Dick
Irwin Chevrolet in Vancouver, Canada. This rare Chevelle is powered
by its matching numbers L72 427cid/425hp engine and numbers
matching M22 "Rock crusher" transmission. Other factory options
include: AD2 tinted windshield, G80 posi-traction, G84 4.10 ratio
rear, N34 wood-grained steering wheel, U14 instrument panel gauges,
ZN1 H.D. front and rear springs, J50 power brakes and J52 front
disc brakes. A beautiful and meticulous factory correct, nut & bolt
frame off restoration was just completed to include the correct
code 57 Fathom Green metallic exterior. This car is the same as it
rolled of the assembly line in 1969 leaving nothing overlooked.
This car is authenticated by GM documentation proving its
authenticity as well as comes with al Protect-O-Plate. For Chevelle
enthusiasts, this limited production COPO is the pinnacle factory
model built in 1969. The L72 engine package backed by the M22
