Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1979 Pontiac Firebird
Formula 400 Trans-Am for purchase. Government regulations started
killing muscle cars in the 1970's left and right. However, Pontiac
kept producing the Firebird Trans-am at the brink of what was
allowed (with perhaps some fudging of some horsepower numbers). Of
course, Smokey and the Bandit made the late 70's models highly
desired iconic pieces of cultural automotive history that are
incredibly easy to recognize.
According to the owner the engine was given GTO crossfire heads,
steel crank, upgraded cam, roller rockers. The car also has headers
with Magnaflow straight dual exhaust and sounds great. The engine
has been dressed up with Edelbrock air cleaner, Edelbrock aluminum
intake and a 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor. The car has been loved
by the current owner for the last 16 years where it spent most of
its time in the garage under a cover. The car has had the rear leaf
springs and shocks replaced. The Driveshaft and U-Joints have also
been replaced.
The car is wired for sound! It has a Sony explod 600 watt amp in
the trunk, 2 Sony 6x9's in the rear valence, and Sony door speakers
with a Sony CD player. It features a B&M floor shift automatic
transmission. The car was just given a brand new battery. The car
has brand new front tires. It also has power brakes and power
steering, and power windows.
