Now up for sale in our Houston showroom is this fully-documented original 1969 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra GT-350. This car is one of only 4 built in its particular configuration in 1969. Of the 2,366 1969 Shelbys, 963 were GT-350's. 824 of those were Shelby Fastbacks. Of them, 448 had FMX Automatic Transmissions. Only 21 of those cars were painted Wimbledon White, of which a whopping 5 (yes, 5) were ordered with White Knitted Decor Bucket Seats. Of those 5, FOUR were equipped with 3.00:1-geared Traction-Lok rear ends. Those 4 cars were identical. This one is one of them. The owner has lots of documentation on this car, so its provenance seems to be indisputable. Originally built for the Hertz Rent-A-Racer program, for which only 150 were produced. Originally ordered by S & C Motors in San Francisco, it was ordered with the Shelby Cobra GT 350 Fastback option from Ford, "became" a Shelby Cobra 350 GT Fastback at Shelby Automotive Co., Inc. in Southfield, MI, and was shipped to Cali for delivery. Also on the order sheet are Wimbledon White, Automatic Transmission, Air Conditioner, Traction-Lok Axle, Sport Deck Rear Seat, Tilt-Away Steering Wheel, A.M. Radio, and Tinted Glass. Including transportation charges, the bottom line on the invoice in 1969 showed a total cost of $5315.77. Obviously, a lot has changed since then! However, this car has not. It is basically an amazingly well-cared for original car, with things today as they were in 1969. Preventive maintenance replacement items like shocks, belts, hoses, and tires haven't remained original - which is a good thing, because one wouldn't want 48-year old rubber in those areas! This car has a complete Marti report, which further documents its history. Once you get past its historic aspects, you'll find that this car starts easily, and drives like you'd expect a pristine '68 Shelby GT-350 to. With a deep burble to its exhaust, as it exits the center-mount bezel, this is one unmistakable muscle car. Underhood, the original 351W 4bbl engine idles smoothly, and sounds great. Its FMX automatic transmission shifts smoothly and decisively. Inside, the original White Clarion Knit Vinyl Hi-Back Bucket Seats are both good looking, and surprisingly comfortable. Buy this car for its collector value, take it to occasional car meets and show it off, win a bunch of trophies and admiring looks, and make your grandkids rich as it gets passed down through the family...Just don't let it slip through your opportunity to get THE REAL DEAL before it's gone! Options on this 1969 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra GT-350 include Air Conditioning, Aluminum Wheels, AM Radio, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, Seatbelts, Tilt-A-Way Wheel, and Clarion Knit Vinyl Interior.
