Vehicle Description
Golden Arrow series, One of Six ever produced, Hull# 862. Golden
Girl was formerly named Golden Era when it was owned by the Lewis
Family of the Thousand Islands until 1989. Mark Mason owned her for
a short time before she was sold to Charles Royce, of Royce Funds
in Watch Hill, RI. Mr. Royce is a collector of many classics
including the 74' Purdy Boat Company Commuter - Aphrodite.
Mr. Royce owned Golden Girl for approximately 11 years and provided
the best of care with a full-time professional Captain and a
rigorous maintenance regime. Golden Girl has won numerous awards at
various Antique and Classic Boat rendezvous'. When not in use off
the waters of Newport, Golden Girl was stored in a Dry Building
under cover.
In May 2009, Golden Girl was purchased by Steve Lamando, a Lake
George NY resident, collector of Antique and Classic Boats, as well
as the owner of Halls Boat Corporation and Elco Motor Yachts. Mr.
Lamando used Golden Girl for the first couple of years and always
stored her in his personal boat house or on the Triple Axel,
included trailer. While under the care, custody and control of Mr.
Lamando, Halls Boat Corporation performed the following work:
*Frame and Planking Repair
*Finishing Bilges, underside of deck and hatches, forward face of
bulkhead
*Engine/Systems/Mechanicals
In 2011, Golden Girl was sent to a finishing company in Mystic CT.
Her decks and interiors were stripped, stained and varnished and
added gold leaf to the arrows of the boat. Mr. Lamando has kept up
with the same, rigorous maintenance schedule that Mr. Royce
followed, ensuring that Golden Girl always looked and ran best.
Golden Girl has been featured in the French book "Canots de
