Vehicle Description
The 2003 Maserati Spyder was a + $100,000 car when new and here is
an example in a rare and desirable color combination - nettuno
blue/cuoio saddle leather - in excellent condition, just over
21,000 miles. It has a stunning body design by one of Italy's
greatest designers, Giugiaro, and an all-alloy 4-cam dry-sump V-8
engine designed by Ferrari and built in Ferrari's engine factory
precisely like Ferrari builds engines for their own cars, each
engine blueprinted and assembled by a single Ferrari engine
builder. Maserati's CEO has stated that his most expensive supplier
is Ferrari!
This Spyder has a full leather interior and its options include
'skyhook' sport suspension and cambiocorsa ('racing change')
transmission - Maserati's road version of Ferrari's Formula 1
paddle-shift gearbox.
The car's actual driving experience on the road is not too far from
that of the Ferrari 575M Maranello: 0-62mph (100km/ph) is 4.8 sec
vs. the Maranello's 4.1 sec and top speed 176 mph (282 km/hr) v.
Maranello's 202 mph (325 km/hr). But no one actually drives like
that. The Spyder's steering turn-in and handling are excellent,
especially in the 'sport' setting that stiffens suspension and
automatically changes the ECU of the cambiocorsa paddle shift
gearbox to very rapid shifts. The car can also be driven in full
automatic transmission mode but it is not advisable for any length
of time since clutch wear is higher.
ESTIMATE: $30,000 - $40,000
