Vehicle Description
Did you enter the Baja 1000 but forgot to prep a vehicle? Well,
this 1978 Ford F-150 can have you covered! With a huge list of the
best off-road components, sturdy construction, and a fresh 406 V8,
you're looking at one terrific vintage 4x4 that was built to
quickly cover all terrains.
If you're a fan of prerunner pickups, you know exactly how cool
this one is. The huge lift, bed-mounted spare, great approach &
departure angles are all part of a solid investment in serious
function. But there was also plenty of money spent on style, too.
First of all, this creation started with a vintage F-150, and Ford
people know this unique front end was only offered for two years.
Plus, the stepside bed is a more streamlined version borrowed from
a later F-series. And that tall cowl hood gives this one some extra
aggression. It's all wrapped around a cool all-American red, white,
and blue paint scheme that makes this tough truck instantly
charming.
Inside the patriotic paint scheme is continued, but what you really
notice are all the race-ready components. The full roll cage, dual
racing bucket seats, large auxiliary gauges, and four-point
harnesses instantly let you know how serious this custom build is.
No radio. No carpeting. No heater. This is the kind of machine
that's ready for a good time and can be hosed out at the end. So
all you need are plenty of grab handles.
Under the hood is a 406 cubic-inch V8 that's so fresh, it's still
using break-in oil! This new motor has been built to be tough and
powerful. It's roller V8 that includes Predator carburetor, Holley
Street Dominator intake, big K&N air filter, an aluminum
radiator, and headers. And you can see from the photos that it's
built with the right components to really handle your favorite
off-road punishment. And speaking of leavening the pavement, you're
going to want to check out the undercarriage photos. This build has
all the right investments in the places you want, like one-ton
chrome moly axles, locking diffs front & rear, Superlift shocks in
the rear, custom shock mounting bar adapted through the bed, a fuel
cell protected in the bed, and Walker Evans Racing beadlock wheels.
Plus, the four-speed manual transmission, power steering, BF
Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/As, and four-wheel disc brakes give you the
best total control is all situations.
If you're the kind of person who like to blaze your own trail, this
is the right prerunner for you. The fact that this heavily
fortified 4x4 also happens to be a cool classic just makes it even
more irresistible. And at this price you know it will be gone soon.
