1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce
Always considered to be an automobile that is sure to provide
fun; that is part of the appeal of the long-running Alfa Romeo
Spider series. The car has a style all of its own and is responsive
with the throttle, corners beautifully, turns plenty of heads and
has plenty of pep. It is shared that this soulful machine is best
experienced driving down a winding road on a sunny day with the top
down; an easy task to bear.
Finished in attractive green with tan interior, matching boot and
black canvas soft-top; this Spider Veloce is a two-owner car in
original condition. Driven by the 2.0-liter, 120-hp DOHC inline
four-cylinder engine, it is paired with a five-speed manual
transmission. The Pininfarina styling is reflected throughout this
stirring auto. Among the features are air conditioning, Jaeger
instrumentation, dual sport mirrors; power windows, steering and
four-wheel disc brakes. The wheels are factory alloys that have a
style sometimes referred to as “telephone dial.” It is reported
that 3,640 similar cars were built in this model year.
“1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce with 36,xxx original miles. Although a 24 year old Italian classic car, it is great condition for its age. It is a used car, and not brand-new. Please do not expect it to be 100% perfect, as this is not possible for a used car of this vintage. Having said that it has always been maintained properly and it is a beautiful example that you will be proud to own. Please see the "Item Description" for more details.”

Clean & clear history
ready to transfer to the new owner
Rust-free and very solid throughout
Mechanicals:
Starts, runs, and drives excellent with a steady idle and steady
power throughout the entire RPM range. The all aluminum 2.0
motor pulls hard with full compression in all 4 cylinders.
Clutch feels great, as does the transmission which shifts
smoothly throughout all 5 gears and into reverse. Suspension
is sporty and tight, yet comfortable and compliant. Up
to date on service with fresh fluids, filters, hoses, pumps, and
belts. The car is super reliable and needs nothing
mechanically — just a new owner to love and enjoy it. The A/C
blows cold as expected.
Exterior:
This beautiful Pininfarina-designed Italian roadster
is timeless and still looks incredible. The body is straight
and the deep black paint is smooth and glossy. There is some
normal minor imperfections to be expected of a 24 year old used
car. All chrome and glass is good with no oxidizing or
pitting. The convertible soft top looks and functions great with no
rips or tears whatsoever. The rear plastic window is
great as well, with none of the common yellowing or fading.
The top goes up & down with ease, locking tightly to seal the
interior from noise and weather. The door jambs, rocker
panels, wheel wells, undercarriage, and engine bay are all
rust-free and clean. There are no major imperfections to
note.
Interior:
Overall very clean and tidy. The seats are excellent and look brand-new, having been fully reupholstered. The door panels are nice and clean too, along with the carpets and floor mats. The dashboard, instrument cluster, and center console are all very nice with no cracking. Lastly, the trunk is very clean and looks to have been used sparingly. The interior underside of the convertible soft top has seen better days, however it functions as it should and is out of sight.
Wheels/Tires:
The original factory equipped "phone-dial" 15" wheels are straight and true. Excellent condition Pirelli (all-season 195/60) tires.
Electrics:
All exterior & interior lights are bright and function as they
should. There are no warning or check-engine lights on in the
instrument cluster. The driver's and passenger power window
moves up & down perfectly with normal speed. Both left
& right power mirrors move in all directions as they should.
Radio and speakers are good, and the power antenna goes up &
down with normal speed.
Summary:
Being an S4 (1991-1994), this Spider not only comes equipped with many modern creature comforts not found in the earlier models -- but it is also the best looking of all four generations. This particular example is also a Veloce, which was the highest trim level offered on the S4 Spider.
Surpassed only by the S1 (1966-1969), the S4 is the most desirable generation of the Alfa Romeo Spider -- and certainly the most valuable. I have personally owned multiple examples of all four generations, and the S4 is truthfully superior to its predecessors both mechanically and cosmetically.
The Alfa Romeo Spider in general, but especially the S4, has been steadily increasing in value over the past 10+ years. Most classic car collectors and analysts agree that the S4 Spider is an excellent investment. Nice examples regularly trade anywhere between . This car is ready-to-go, yet I am looking to sell it for substantially less. Be careful of those that have been neglected and need more money invested into them than they are worth. Don't take my word for it, do your own research.
In short, this is the greatest convertible Italian sports car that can be had in this price range. It is very reliable and user friendly -- and although parts are readily accessible, it is a fragile and finicky car that needs constant maintenance. They are to own, and drives like a modern car while maintaining that explainable feeling that comes from a classic Italian roadster. Lastly, it is designed by the legendary Pininfarina.
Qualifies for , further lowering its cost of ownership.
