1936 2nd generation reproduction Auburn 852 Speedster
Like new condition with only 2,279 miles
I purchased this about 4 years ago. It was in a museum for several years and only had 500 miles on when I bought it. It is titled as a 1936.
I have only driven it to car shows and car events. It always draws a huge crowd. It is always stored in a climate controlled garage except when itβs at a show. It has never been driven in the rain but I did have to drive it on a wet road once, so the underside probably could use a good clean up.
The Auburn Boat tail Speedster is considered one of the most striking cars to ever hit the open road! As Auburn dedicated itself to art-deco design styles, it employed some of the best designers of the era. With the model 851 and 852 Speedster credits going to designer Gordon Buehrig, very few were ever made before Auburn had to close its doors in 1936 forever. Because of this, they became highly sought after for highline collectors and reproduced heavily by a great number of replica car manufactures for enthusiasts. One of the original manufacturers was Antique Autos of America based out of Largo, FL. As a prominent classic car restoration facility already, it began to produce some of the most highly acknowledged Auburn and Cord replicas ever manufactured professionally. It was largely under the supervision of project manager, Michael Atkins, who now owns and operates Speedster Motorcars in their new facility in Clearwater, FL.
These were factory built with all new components - no used or junk yard parts like most of the older builds. They were updated from the original design retaining all the original looks and lines but improving everything with modern mechanical components, even the cabin length was increased to accommodate a taller person. Instead of driving like a 1936 car, it drives like a modern sports car, with rack & pinion steering and disc brakes.
Speedster Motorcars produced this very striking 1936 Auburn Boat tail 852 Speedster in 2005 at cost of $125,000. It would cost much more to have this built today.
It has a brilliant red finish over red leather upholstery and a black canvas top with red piping. This example is powered by a GM Vortec 5300 V8, 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission and 9β Ford rear end.
It is complete with a host of factory equipment that include:
Safety items include emergency handbrake, seat belts, backup camera and turn signals.
