Camaros get a lot of attention, they certainly weren't the only
game in town. Their Pontiac-badged cousin had more cubes and more
curves, lending them a lasting appeal that resonates in today's
collector market. This fully restored 1969 Firebird is a great
example of what makes these cars so great. With 350 horsepower, a
dependable automatic transmission, and a killer black-on-black
color combination, it doesn't get much better than this. While this
Firebird was born with good looks, its current condition comes
courtesy of a complete restoration. We're not sure who restored it,
but whoever it was, deserves our high praise. Just look down its
laser-straight body side panels. We all know how difficult it is to
make them look this good in black, not to mention what it costs. In
the car world, we all know strongest color in cars sales is black,
and yes, we all agree nothing looks better than a beautiful black
car. The restoration included new chrome bumpers and most of the
exterior trim and brightwork. Looking into the trunk, the floor
pans are beautiful and the correct spatter paint has been applied.
That is mostly covered by a factory trunk mat. In the trunk, as
you'll see in our photos, is the correct factory space saver spare
tire and factory jack. Power is provided by a 350ci V8 which has
been rebuilt to factory specs. The block is a YN code with a
9790079 casting number and #48 HO Heads. According to the PHS
report, this car was born a true factory HO car. Over the years,
the block was replaced, and the car still retains the correct HO
heads. The whole assembly is painted Pontiac Blue and topped with
an updated 4 barrel carburetor. *Please Note:* the original
Quadrajet carburetor is in the trunk and goes with the car. The
engine presents with authenticity and powers desirable accessories
such as power steering, and power brakes. Underneath the F-body,
the rock-solid floor pans are dressed in black. In the center, a
TH400 Automatic transmission makes quick work of spinning power
back to a factory 10-bolt rear end. At either side, a factory style
dual exhaust system with Flowmaster muffler offers a great tone for
the 350. This car also features correct power steering and correct
power front disc brakes. Original style wheels round out the
corners. Inside the car, you'll find more great Pontiac styling
wrapped in black, with rich wood grain applique. At ground level,
fresh black carpet covers the floor, sealed by Fisher Body door
sill plates. The dark shade continues onto the dashboard which
offers factory instrumentation as well as controls for the heat &
defrost system. The factory radio is in place and works. A long
center console flows down the middle between clean black bucket
seats, while a taut black headliner stretches above. Included in
the sale of this impressive Pontiac is PHS documentation that
provides insight into the cars' origins as well as two original
broadcast sheets that offer specifics regarding the car's options.
This fine bird was built in the Norwood, Ohio Assembly plant, and
built on July 3rd 1968. She came off the line as a true triple
black Firebird - no color change on this beauty! The market for
these cars is incredibly strong, as evidenced by how quickly our
past Firebirds have sold and recent auction results. Don't let this
summer pass you by without this great addition to your garage. See
our current inventory at www.customclassics.net, or get ahold of
our sales manager, Gary, for more information.
