For Sale: 1978 Mercedes Benz 450SL CONVERTIBLE in Arlington, Texas
The SL model of Mercedes Benz was released as the personal luxury
roadster and definitely lives up to it's name. The cars were loaded
with luxury items and built for comfortable driving in mind. This
1978 Mercedes Benz 450SL was held in a private collection for many
years where it wasn't getting driven very much. After being listed
for sale the car was sent to a mechanic where it was gone through
and repaired to make it road worthy again. The car is painted in
the original English Red color code 504 which actually many would
argue is more Orange. It is the original paint and was just clay
barred and buffed out. It has a nice shine but there are some
imperfections in the paint. The chrome and bright work is all in
good shape. The car comes with the optional hardtop which is nicely
mounted in place. The original White cloth top would need to
replaced. The glass is all in good condition with no damage or
issues. The car rolls around on the original wheels with Road
Hugger Radial G/T tires.
Under the hood is the original four stroke 8 cylinder 4520 cc V8.
It has the stock appearance and as mentioned above was gone through
with multiple mechanic repairs and all the fluids replaced. It runs
and drives with no known problems. It is paired with the original 3
speed automatic transmission. All of the original luxury options
like power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, and power
windows are there and working.
The interior of the car is in great shape with very little signs of
wear. It is the original Tan interior and the upholstery,
headliner, door panels and carpeting are in great shape. Any weak
areas on the paint are made up for on the inside. All of the
gauges, knobs, switches, etc are original and all working properly.
The trunk of the car is carpeted as well and houses the original
jack equipment and convertible top boot.
This classic is one of those cases of a car that was stored indoors
sitting for many years of it's life. It has since been gone through
mechanically to fix those problems that come from having a car sit.
It runs well and is a fine driver as is but with a little TLC on
the paint could made even better.
