Vehicle Description
Built for almost seventy years, the Beetle or bug or Kafer official
name in German was also known in Volkswagen HQ as the Type 1. It
was the brain-child of Adolf Hitler to design a car for the masses
or "Peoples Car:" Hitler commissioned Ferdinand Porsche to design
and build the ever so famous car. Originally it had just 25 HP and
could reach a speed of around 60 MPH. It was a rear engine
automobile that was great for the Winter Mountain roads in Germany,
Air-Cooled so no freezing could occur it could fit four people
comfortably and was very economical to purchase and maintain. And
although the beetle body style was considered a one-design, it did
have many technological and mechanical advancements over the years.
By 1977 displacement was increased to 1600 CC's and produced 60 HP.
They were also making them a little larger which most of the size
was for storage in the bonnet and behind the rear seats. This
excellent limited run of only around 1000 Champagne editions is in
largely original condition featuring its Triple White layout and
wood grain dash runs and drives excellent with everything in
working order. This is a rust free example that appears to have a
drivers side floor plan replaced at some point. The top is in good
operational condition with a small tear on the passenger side.
Comes with the owners manual, maintenance guide, boot cover and car
cover.
