Vehicle Description
Since the inception of the automobile, racing was invented as soon
as the 2nd car was built. The strong love affair with getting cars
to go faster and faster with modifications and enhancements has
always been a strong desire by fans and enthusiasts. Racing
technology has gone from very basic tweaks to multi-million dollar
modification in today's standards. Here at the GR Auto Gallery we
embrace the weekend warrior and the highly trained builders that
love to tinker and customize their vehicles. We have seen all
spectrums here and each one is unique and special to the builder
and the owner.
Offered for your purchasing interest is this very special 1935 Ford
Indy Race car replica commissioned by Dick Cecil and built by the
famous A.J. Watson. The build began in 2005 and took a little over
2yrs to complete and fine tune. The car was started with a boxed
frame and fiberglass body. The car carries a Mercury Flathead V8
with Edmunds heads which are world renowned and referred to as
Eddies. The engine is setup nicely in the engine bay and
relinquishes its exhaust via twin chrome exhaust side pipes.
Transmission is a 4spd manual with reverse and is a joy to drive
and very easy to shift thru the gate. Rear end is a Halibrand that
is produced out of Torrence California. Other notable features
include; Perma-Cool radiator fan, Jaguar knock off wire wheels with
Firestone Gum Dippers as tires, chrome front axle and steering
rack, seat belts, leather cockpit, front chrome leaf springs, split
front adjustable windshield, dual rear mirrors, Stewart Warner
tachometer, Classic Instruments that include, oil pressure,
voltage, water temp, and fuel. All these gauges appear to be
working.
This car participated in numerous events but also was a 8 time
participant in the Millers on the Mile race in Milwaukee and the
Alumni Reunion at the Indy Raceway Park. The car fires right up
with a few flicks of switches and a pull of the choke. Once warmed
up the vehicle drives awesome and is very enjoyable to drive. This
is a rare opportunity to purchase a very accurate replication of a
Indy style car from the 30's and at this price is a fraction of any
others on the market. Vehicle carries #19 and driver Charley
Lawrence. Car is sold with a clean title and ready for any next
adventure, race, concourse, or rally event you attend.
