Vehicle Description
Long, powerful, and distinctly styled, this 1966 Buick LeSabre has
been given all the right investments to feel like a time capsule.
So when you want your classic motoring experience to truly
transport you to a different era, read on...
Buick seemed to be the best at embracing the era of longer, lower,
and wider that defined the 1960s. And the restyled 1966 cars really
showed this. The center points on both the front and rear were
really extended in the sheetmetal to make these cars look
distinctive. It's almost as if the designers wanted to convey the
luxury of a Buick by allowing them to stretch out as far as they
like. Plus, not only did the bumpers follow this unique design, but
also the side trim artfully connects with these wraparound units
and runs along the profile. It creates one cohesive perimeter that
gives this one an overall attractiveness. You see it so clearly
today thanks to great brightwork and a modern respray of the
factory-correct Turquoise Mist paint. But more than just how it
looks, you can tell the decades of care that has going into this
sedan by the way the panels fit and all four doors still shut with
authority. In fact, everything is complete, right down to the
iconic portholes and factory wheel covers.
The Aqua color of the interior coordinates nicely with the exterior
color. We believe most of this to be original. So when you see the
condition of the bright metallic vinyl and comfortable cloth
inserts on the seats, you're once again reminded of the endless
care that has gone into this full-size Buick. In fact, every major
piece of original trim is still in place, from the chrome on the
door panels, to the Buick crest on the dash. This is classic
cruising at its finest, and since you will want to share this
experience with family and friends, a few nice upgrades were
tastefully installed to keep everyone happy. For example, the
original radio is still in place for appearance sake, but the tunes
now come out of a more modern AM/FM/CD stereo. Plus, there is
modern R134a air conditioning.
The bright Dante Red of Buick's own engine block is something we
all love to see when the hood is open at the car shows. And this
one really looks fantastic with a very clean and correct
presentation, right down to the factory air topper. This is a 340
cubic-inch V8, which is the correct displacement for a '66, and it
was only produced for a couple of years. So you have a powerful
motor that also has a story to tell. But more than just showing
off, this classic sedan was meant to be driven. That's why it has
features like power steering, power brakes, and a three-speed
automatic transmission. There was even an electric fan added to
help keep you cool in traffic.
The more you look at this full-size Buick, the more you appreciate
the preservation, restoration, and upgrades that have combined to
make one irresistible package. The sale even comes complete with
the original protect-o-plate warranty card and owner's manual, so
you know you're going to love both driving and showing this one.
