Wow! What a cool Chevelle!! I could probably write a novel on this
car with all of the details that this Chevelle contains. The bottom
line is: A favorite streamline 60's body style, coupled with high
performance that this car couldn't have imagined back in 1969.
Built by Chuck Hanson and Joe Elmore on the Spike Television show
“Horsepower TV”, this car was among several high quality builds
that those guys performed using updated technology, quality name
brand high performance components, installed and tested in their
showcase shop with an arsenal of tools any mechanic on most any
level would envy.
The heart of the Chevelle begins with a GM performance 502 CID 4
bolt main block, loaded with domed aluminum pistons, heavy duty
rods, and Iskenderian full roller cam, topped with Edelbrock
Performance RPM heads with 2.19 intake and 1.88 exhaust valves, BDS
8-71 Supercharger, and fuel injection plate with 16-30lb.
injectors, all fully polished including the blower hat.
The TCI Street-fighter Turbo 400 transmission transfers all of the
713 horsepower through the aluminum drive-shaft to the 12 Bolt
spooled rear differential. This Chevelle is bullet proof!
Make no mistake, this is a fully capable street driven Chevelle.
Granted, it's a little louder than your average daily driver, but
when this Chevelle rolls by either at idle speed, or somewhere into
the throttle, it's very clear this Chevelle means business!
There is some nicely placed high-tech, user friendly equipment on
board too, such as the fuel injection management system, as well as
the new, original style interior that's comfortable, and
familiar.
Although powerful, this Chevelle handles all of it's high
performance characteristics with only 7 lbs. of boost, and on pump
premium! How great is that?!
A couple of very important points are; the car is very clean, and
tight everywhere you look. The interior of course is new as
mentioned, and the undercarriage is very clean and free of any
rust, including the floor pans, the frame, and the rockers. The
hood was routed to accommodate the blown/injected big block, and
looks very tasteful. The car's stance looks aggressive with a nice
forward angle, and the wheels and tires fit the car well.
There's some nice documentation that accompanies the cars as well
as a DVD of the actual broadcast of Horsepower TV showcasing the
build of this Chevelle.
Well, of course I couldn't begin to point out every single detail
of this special Chevelle in this write-up as there is just so many
details. This is truly a rare opportunity to own a 1960's Chevrolet
icon with performance updated to run with the best of today!!
Beautiful, powerful '69 Chevelle!
