This solid, straight summer-time cruiser spent much of its life in Florida. As a result, the body is very straight and shows no signs of rust or repair.
The paint is very nice. It is shiny and smooth. It gleams in the sunlight. The chrome is also very nice.
The top seems to have suffered a bit. I believe it to be original. it is stained by the sun and by water. A few seems are weak. It is certainly functional, but if you wish to show the car with the top up, it should be replaced.
The glass is all nice, including the glass rear window. The original wheels were replaced with a nice set of Crager SS wheels. The Goodyear tires are like new. The exhaust now utilizes chrome side pipes, which were all the rage in the 70’s.
The 390 V8 starts and runs great. The transmission shifts properly. This is a big car, yet it moves right along. It is very comfortable at 80 mph.
The ride is nice. You may adjust the air shocks to your performance. Power steering and brakes make for effortless driving.
The interior is very nice. Especially for a convertible. There are no splits or rips in the seats. The carpet still looks great. The dash pad is nice.
The radio is not getting reception. I am guessing it is the antenna. The parking brake is not working. Otherwise all features, lights and gauges work properly. The power top works, also.
This is a very nice car that has only been driven 78,516 miles. It performs very well and has lots of enjoyment left to provide.
There aren’t many Mercury Monterey convertibles in existence. This is the first I have seen. You will certainly be the only one in your town.
It is a lot of car with a lot of quality and a lot left to give. Where else will you find a convertible for hardtop money?
