Vehicle Description
1968 Volkswagen Beetle
1968 was a great year for Volkswagen. Big changes came with a new
larger higher mounted bumper, new large taillamps in back with back
up lights, a now electrical fuel gauge, a ventilation system and
many safety improvements. The gas filler was also relocated to the
outside so you no longer had to pop the trunk to fill it. If you
are in the market for a Beetle this is a good year to start with
because it has a lot of those desirable features that weren't
available prior to 68. This classic bug is in great shape and
90,000 original miles. It was just gone through with multiple
components replaced including all new windows with door rubbers.
The body is in good shape and the Burgundy paint looks great
accented with the original style trim. The original wheels/hubcaps
sit under all four corners and are in great shape. You see some of
these with different style wheels but nothing creates that vintage
Beetle look like the original VW hubcaps.
In back the 1600cc engine runs great with zero smoking issues. It
starts up well and delivers that classic Beetle sound. The
transmission shifts great and the car just received a new clutch
and pressure plate. The transaxle was also replaced as well as the
shocks and front ball joints. These cars are always fun to drive
and this one scoots around town with no problems.
The interior of the car features high backed bucket seats done in
Black upholstery. The carpet is done in Black as well but the door
panels are all White which really looks good and creates a nice
contrast. The dash of the car has the original components with a
Black dash pad. The glove box door and gauge area are painted to
match the exterior of the car. Up front the car is carpeted and
houses the original spare and jack equipment.
These cars are great classics and one of the best parts is the very
affordable asking price!
