For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our Houston showroom is this
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Tribute. This particular Chevelle
started life as a Malibu V8, as indicated by the "36" in the 2nd
and 3rd positions in the VIN. The black interior looks well-cared
for; showing little signs of its true age. Under the hood you will
find a rebuilt 454 CID V8, mated to a rebuilt GM TH400 3-speed
automatic transmission. Only a little bit of chrome is needed, as
the monster 454 will draw attention all by itself. The 454 has a
mild cam, which helps provide some additional grunt without being
too difficult to tame for street use; plus it adds a nice lope to
the idle. When all 4 venturis on the big Edelbrock 4 barrel carb
are mixing air and fuel at full throttle, the sound of the exhaust
will bring back memories of the good old days. Hooker competition
headers evacuate the spent fossils through a full dual exhaust
system that will wake the neighbors if you want to. The GM 10-bolt
rear houses a 3.08:1 ring and pinion gear set; so the car has been
kept highway friendly - this Chevelle will cruise around town and
down the highways with ease. Inside, the interior has been kept
simple and clean with only the addition of 3 gauges and a small
tach. The bucket seats, center console with "His 'n Hers" shifter,
and rear bench are intact. Depending on which direction you are
looking to take, whether you're looking for a driver to hit the
local cruises with, or just go for some weekend drives in a
classic, then this Chevelle is an excellent choice. Recent
enhancements to this Chevelle include new Moog 454 springs, new KYB
Gas Shocks, and a new alternator. Options on this 1969 Chevrolet
Chevelle SS Tribute include digital retro-style AM/FM radio with
Aux capability, vinyl interior, seat belts, Power steering, Power
Brakes, Factory Rally Wheels with chrome beauty rings, and BF
Goodrich Radial T/A tires. For more information on this 1969
