For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our Houston showroom is an
Elkhart Green 1972 Chevrolet Corvette convertible powered by a a
350 CID L48 V8. This sweet numbers matching Corvette is painted in
its original Elkhart Green and features a white soft top with a
black interior. It fires up with ease, and is a real pleasure to
drive, with everything operating smoothly and properly. This
convertible 'Vette is equipped with power steering, power brakes,
seat belts, vinyl interior, radial tires with raised white
lettering, chrome luggage rack, factory alarm system
(disconnected). Its original factory air conditioning system is in
place (although it doesn't blow cold). 1972 was the last year for
front and rear chrome bumpers, and saw the beginning of the use of
SAE net power ratings. This meant that power was rated with all
engine accessories in place. This particular Corvette has the base
200HP L48 4bbl engine; which, when converted back to gross HP (like
its 1971 rating would have been), would have been approximately
270HP. This is still more than enough to burn off the rear tires
and give a lot of cars a run for their money. The C3 Corvette
(referring to the third generation) ran from 1968 all the way
through 1982. This C3 is one of only 27,004 Corvettes produced in
1972, and is one of only 6508 convertibles built that year. With
its 51965 original miles and original drivetrain, it is very likely
to increase in value. If you're inclined, a full restoration will
give you a dynamite recipe for a great collector car. For more
