The engine is a remanufactured 312 cid Y block Ford original type that was used in a lot of the new Fords for several years; it is classed as a Police Interceptor used in all police cars in those years.
The transmission is an air cooled 3 speed automatic, 1st is only used when it is manually placed in low on the gear shift on the steering column. In drive it starts in intermediate then shifts into high.
The rear end is an 8.5 inch drop-in with a gear ratio of 3.55:1. The brakes are all new shoes and related parts. The rear axle has new bearings and seals. The front spindles also have new bearings and seals.
There are 5 new tires, size, 215/75-R15. Radial tubeless type. The continental kit has a used tire just to mount the kit to; it is not a tire to use for driving on.
It has power steering and an aftermarket air conditioning unit mounted under the dash. It has dual front and rear 2 way speakers with a A.M./F.M. cassette radio. The vacuum wiper motor has been replaced with a 12 volt 2 speed electric windshield wiper motor.
It has duel exhausts thru the rear bumper and 2 back up lights along with the updated square outside rear view mirrors. The hub caps are the full style top of the line hub caps. I have extra ones if you want one for the spare tire.
The interior has a custom head liner, door panels, restored vinyl seats, carpet and matching color package tray.
The door and window handles are excellent quality chrome plated aftermarket ones. All of the chrome parts were rechromed and the stainless parts were all straightened and polished, the work was done by Metro Plating of Phoenix.
The exterior upper body paint is the exact type originally used and is single stage 3 coat premium urethane acrylic enamel. The under pan is coated with a special frame paint. All the filler material that was used is fiberglass resin; no bondo was used anywhere.
Top and bottom radiator tanks used, 4 row high heat transfer fin unit installed plus using a 6 blade fan, with the installation of the air conditioning it needed the extra cooling capacity.
Have a pair of aftermarket fender skirts that are unpainted you can have if you want the and extra matching paint.
The air cleaner is a reproduction of the original Thunderbird oil bath air cleaner except this one uses a dry filter element. It has an original jack and lug wrench behind the spare tire. It is not suited for use on the extension at the rear with the continental kit, for changing the rear tires you need a bottle jack under the rear axle and then use the bumper jack to lift the body high enough to get the tire out from under the wheel well.
