Vehicle Description
This Commando is the recipient of a full frame-off restoration with
nothing overlooked on the build. The truck is an original 1971 SC-1
model, which makes it one of 56 built in 1971. Refinished in the
original orange color with gloss-white factory hardtop, it features
a custom-built full-family roll cage with overhead console and
speaker system painted to match the exterior. Everything on this
truck is new. Exterior features include custom front bumper with
top-of-the-line Warn winch system and a custom rear bumper with
tire carrier, Hi-Lift jack and custom-built side rock sliders for
off-road use. It's powered by a GM 4.3-liter V6 with a 4L60E
automatic transmission and a Dana 300 transfer case fitted with a
low-range 4.1 LoMax gear set. The front and rear axles were
replaced with Dana 44s, and both axles were up-fitted with ARB air
lockers and 4.56 gears. The original leaf springs have been
replaced with a brand-new set of Alcan leafs, which give the Jeep
more flex and articulation when off-roading. The interior of the
Jeep is beautiful and looks like a new 1971 with modern
appointments and safety gear. The seat upholstery is the exact
replica of the original 1971 seats and looks awesome. The vehicle
comes with a huge binder with photos of and receipts for the
restoration, as well as a copy of the magazine featuring the Jeep
and the amazing story of its restoration. This is a true
no-expense-spared, custom-built, one-of-a-kind classic Jeep.
