For Sale: 1969 Pontiac LeMans in Greensboro, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

1969 LS restomod! PRICE REDUCED!!!

A lot of time and attention to detail was put into the conversion to retain all appearances of factory stock, but provide full functionality of the modern powertrain. All original gauges/instrumentation have been engineered to work with the PCM; no aftermarket units, the factory radio was left in place and a hidden aftermarket unit provides sound, the factory shifter gate has been modified for a four speed, but no obvious external evidence of the change exists.

This car (was) a numbers matching; original paint color, original interior 350 ? 2bbl car with bucket seats, console, TH350 automatic transmission, power steering, manual drum brakes, rally II wheels (14 x 6), and AM radio.

Paint is code 63 Champagne, with Black Vinyl top, interior is black, all in good condition. Body is in great original condition; original sheet metal, no rot; no replacements. Note-The chassis/body has not been through a frame-off restoration; but is in good original condition.

Dash, interior, and headliner are in excellent original condition, no dash cracks, original radio is still in place, dash has never been hacked up to install aftermarket radio.

As part of the conversion/restoration process, all Front End Sheet metal was removed, and from the firewall forward all components were sandblasted, primed and painted including inner fenders, hood, firewall, frame rails, suspension, etc.

All electrical systems, lighting, options, etc are functional. The car has been painted within that last 10 years. Good shine/driver condition; minor stone chips here and there.

This vehicle is the perfect mix of classic style and modern reliability; as I?ve taken this on two Hot Rod power tour events (2 thousand miles each) and have had not a single issue on either. Has never overheated, doesn?t require any adjustment, etc ? It just runs (fast).

Powertrain

2005 LQ9 6.0 L motor tuned to 400HP, with matching 4L60E transmission. Custom Autocraft oil pan, LS motor mounts, factory accessory drive, and custom power steering pulley for proper engine bay clearances.

Custom welded Spectra Premium cold air intake with ram air and complete separation from the engine bay to ensure no hot air enters the intake.

Custom high performance tune from professional tuner; all VATS security deleted, emissions deleted, no error codes present.

The transmission shift calibration has been upgraded to slightly firmer shifts normally. Then, a special ?race mode? has been added with a separate program for higher shift points and firm shifts that is activated via pushbutton (see picture of red button in ash tray)

Custom shift gate and gear indicator was purchased to integrate the 4L60E into the existing factory console and shifter.

Interior

Upgraded to GTO rally gauges ? Water temp, oil pressure, and fuel level all are working and accurate +/- 5%. Tachometer integrated into PCM, accurate +/- 5%, speedometer is servo-driven and accurate to +/- 2 MPH based on GPS data.

Added cruise control ? Fully functional and integrated into the PCM

An aftermarket radio and dual channel under-dash speaker located in the factory location provides tunes for the road. AM/FM/Sirius/USB-MP3 capability. The base controller is located under the passenger side of the dash, the controller is suction cup mount to the windshield and can be removed for car shows.

Braking

Entire braking system has been replaced/updated. Front disc conversion kit, new master cylinder/proportioning valve, all new brake lines all the way around. Manual braking; not power.

Suspension/Steering/Wheels/Tires

All suspension components have been refurbished. New bushings, tie rod ends, upper/lower ball joints, etc etc have been replaced. New P/S hoses and adapters from the new P/S pump to the existing gearbox have been updated. New KYB shocks installed, along with heavy duty rear anti-roll bar to improve handling. Upgraded to 15 x 7 rally II wheels (factory). BF Goodrich 245/60/15 tires.

Rear End/Axle

The original Pontiac 10-bolt rear end was a 2:56 open differential has been removed and replaced with a professionally built 10-bolt 3:55 Posi from a 1970 GTO. The axle assembly has been andblasted/painted.

Adjustable upper control arms have been purchased/installed to allow proper pinion angle adjustment. The driveshaft is a custom-length, balanced unit from Milwaukee Driveshaft.

Fuel

Custom ?fuel-injection? gas tank with in-tank fuel pump (255 LPH Walboro). All fuel lines stainless braided with ?AN fittings. Corvette fuel filter/pressure regulator unit. Fuel delivery is ?non return? type.

Electrical

Custom designed electrical system incorporating both the existing electrical system and new control system. New factory wiring harness from firewall connector forward. All connectors automotive, crimp OEM style; no butt splices, soldered/heat shrink connections only.

Battery relocation to the trunk with 2/0 locomotive cable; grounding and positive connections terminate in factory locations; not to the frame.

The entire electrical system is fully documented and schematics come with the vehicle (aides troubleshooting if needed). Also, GM dealer factory service manuals for that year of engine/transmission are also included with the car.

Cooling

Aftermarket aluminum 3-core radiator with dual electric cooling fans/integral shroud. Fans are programmed at two separate on temperatures through the PCM; I?ve never seen the second fan turn on as the car never gets above 215 degrees; even idling for extended times.
