The restrained elegance and perfect proportions of the Alfa Romeo GTV survived for over a 10 year production run with relatively light cosmetic changes but more significant were the mechanical upgrades. Over the years, engine displacement grew, which altered the GTV's character. The innovative high-revving, carbureted 1570 cc DOHC four (1600) was succeeded by a 1779 cc four (1750) with a SPICA mechanical fuel injection system in the GTV of 1969 which remained in production through 1971.

This particular US Market example was first sold new in California in 1972 as a 1971 year model, and is titled as such. For the last 10 years it has remained in the collection of a passionate San Francisco Alfa Romeo enthusiast, who at one time owned approximately 25 Alfas, nearly all of which were kept at the level of this wonderful example. This desirable 1750cc GTV received a comprehensive restoration between 2006-2009. Work included paint, upholstery, new body rubbers and emblems, restoration of the instruments, fitment of new brake hoses, pads, and rotors, and new ball joints and control arm bushings. The transmission was rebuilt with new synchros and bearings as necessary, with specially treated gears, while the engine's cylinder head was also rebuilt and fitted with new intake + exhaust values and guides. Finally, the Speca fuel injection system was tuned for easy operation, both when warm and cold. The resulting car is an absolute thrill to drive! Its motor demonstrates a quiet and even idle, but pulls strong from low rpms, right up to redline - as the transmission is precise and smooth in its operation both up and down, which is often not the case on vintage Alfas. Tight suspension, steering and solid brakes round out the package.

The cosmetic presentation is excellent for the high end driver. Its cabin is beautiful, and freshly trimmed in correct materials, as was the dash. The GTV's engine bay and undercarriage is sound and tidy, while not overly detailed, and appears quite solid. This example sits on rare and beautiful pent-mag Cromodora wheels with new and period correct Pirelli Cinturatos CN36 tires. Amber front lenses and Italian license plate up front complement the ensemble, along with a set of custom matching CoCo mats and Autodromo stringback driving gloves in the cabin for the ultimate period driving experience.
Original Alfa Romeo sales brochures and documentation reflecting the restoration work mentioned above accompany the vehicle, along with the original jack, tools in vinyl sleeve and restored spare wheel assembly. Prepared for immediate vintage touring pleasure and display at the local Cars and Coffee, this outstanding Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 is now available for worldwide purchase and delivery.
