North American International Auto Show in Detroit in the autumn of
2003 and January 2004 respectively, the E63/E64 BMW 6-series models
were based on the BMW Z9 Concept, whose exterior was redesigned by
Adrian Van Hooydonk, and the interior was designed by David Carp.
As the long-awaited second-generation BMW models bearing the
revered 6-Series designation, the new BMW 60-Series was available
in E63 coupe and E64 cabriolet body styles and sold from2003 to
2010. Underpinnings were based upon a shortened E60 5-Series
chassis and shared a number of similar features including the BMW
iDrive system. Interestingly, the development process of the BMW
E63/E64 6-Series was documented for Television in a three-part
miniseries by the Discovery Channel Canada called Birth of a Sports
Car, with each of the three episodes covering the design, testing,
and production of the new BMW 6-Series cars in order. Early
6-Series models actually featured a \'C\' before the \'i\' in the
model designation, meaning that the early 6-Series cars were
referred to as the 630Ci and 645Ci. The \'C\' was also visible in
the model identification script along the right-hand side of the
trunk lid, but the \'C\' was subsequently dropped in keeping with
BMW\'s regular nomenclature. Along with a facelift from September
27, 2007, BMW added three trim levels to the 6-Series, including
SE, Sport, and the Edition Sport level introduced in 2008. In
typical BMW practice, the E63/E64 6-Series was methodically
refined, developed, and improved throughout its run, until the
F12/F13 6-Series arrived for 2011. \r\n\r\nThe 650i replaced the
645Ci in 2006, and production of the improved 650i commenced during
2005. Powering the 650i was a 4.8-litre V-8 engine producing 360
horsepower and 360 foot-pounds torque. The 650i was available in
both Coupe and Convertible form, and given a mild facelift in
September 2007. Top speed was an electronically-limited 155 mph.
Acceleration from rest to 60 mph was equally outstanding, achieved
in as little as 5.0 seconds. This 2009 BMW 650i Convertible is a
compelling modern BMW offering as a two-owner California vehicle.
Accompanied by a clean Carfax vehicle history report, it features
excellent Triple Black livery and marks a desirable find at No
