Up for sale we have a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra Jet. In 1970 Ford came
out with an all new design for their Torino. Gone was the boxy
lines of years past and in flew the sleek aerodynamic design that
we all love. Flash ford to 2008 and that's where you'll find the
Torino we have for you finishing up one of the most impressive
restorations we have ever seen. There was over $100K spent on the
restoration of this car. We have copies of receipts and it's highly
documented with the build sheet, window sticker, and Marti Report.
In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the
exterior, interior, and driveline of the Ford, but first we would
like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee.
We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no
consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You
can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a
big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So,
that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us
for more information, pictures, or any questions call our office at

We will start off with the exterior of this Torino. From the first
moment, you lay eyes on it the quality of the resto is evident. All
the panel fit and gaps alignments are excellent, and down the sides
are straight as an arrow. This car was restored to factory Specs
featuring the Shaker Hood with the Black shaker and blacked out
hood. The rest of the body is covered in the Medium Blue Metallic
Paint that has been buffed and polished to a mirror finish. It's
slick as a ribbon and is equally impressive in all the jams. All
the chrome and stainless was either replaced or restored to like
new condition. Likewise, all the glass, seals and weather stripping
is like new. This Torino came factory with raised white letter
tires, so what better way to finish it than to sit it on the steel
wheels with small caps and rings wrapped in Firestone Wide Oval
Tires.
Next, we will move to the interior on this Cobra Jet. On the
inside, it's also been restored to factory specs with the Black
Vinyl Bench seats. The seat covers were replaced and all the
padding is great. Looking at the door panels they are in great
condition along with all Cobra emblems, window cranks and handles.
Also, the carpet and Headliner is done in Black and the dome light
is working. When you get behind the wheel the first thing you'll do
is reach for the Hurst Shifter. You'll notice the dash pad is in
excellent condition with the Cobra Emblem and detail. Everything
looks like it would have when new from the Speedo to the AM Radio.
Inside the trunk has phenomenal detail and features the jack and
firestone wide oval spare.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of this Ford. As special as
this car is this is what puts it over the top. Only 2,131 of these
cars were built with the 429 CJ engine and Four Speed Trans. This
one features the 429 Matching Numbers Big Block. It's mated to the
Date Code Correct Top Loader Four Speed and a '70 model 9" Posi
Rear end with a 4.10 Gear. The 429 also has the date code correct
Ford Intake and Quadrajet Carb. It's dressed in the stock style
aluminum valve covers. Being a Cobra Jet it has the shaker that
mounts to the factory air breather. For exhaust, it has manifolds
with dual pipes and Chambered Mufflers. When you look under this
Torino it gorgeous. The eye to detail is amazing with the painted
floors and all the suspension being detailed to the max. All new
balls joints and bushings were installed in the front. Also, new
brake and fuel lines were put in along with a new gas tank.
