fifth-generation 911 was the product of a revolution at Stuttgart
as the first liquid-cooled iteration of the timeless series. In
addition to providing greater power output and scope for future
development, the new engine design allowed compliance with
tightening noise standards and emissions regulations. A dramatic
departure from the venerable air-cooled engines powering the 911
and its variants for nearly 35 years, the new water-cooled unit was
easier to assemble and constructed from an aluminum crankcase and a
new split cylinder-head assembly. Four camshafts operated the
valvetrain and the VarioCam system allowed 25 degrees of adjustment
for the intake cam timing, dictated by engine speed and load.
Displacing 3,387 cc, this short-stroke engine was made for high
operating speeds and with 11.3 compression, it delivered 296 DIN
horsepower at 6,800 rpm in basic form 320 bhp SAE and gave the new
911 the swagger to match its sleek new body design.\r\n\r\nProduced
during October 2001, this 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is
equipped with a highly desirable 6-speed manual transaxle and
presented in its very desirable factory-specified Seal Grey
Metallic paint over Black leather. Just 66,000 miles have been
covered and it clearly benefits from proper care, supported by a
clean Carfax vehicle history report confirming the service work it
has received. The clutch was replaced at Porsche of Newport Beach
about 20,000 miles ago with service performed by the dealership.
The original MSRP for this particular car was 89,315 back in 2002
and options included Porsche Stability Management, 18-inch alloy
Carrera wheels, wheel caps with colored Porsche crests, supple
leather interior upholstery front and rear, black floor mats with
Porsche lettering, the Advanced Technic package, heated front seats
with power adjustment, and a black convertible top. As expected,
performance is breathtaking, with this 911 Carrera Cabriolet
capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds,
rendering it a thrilling and enjoyable Porsche driving machine by
any standard. Clean Car Fax/p
