1970 455 HO motor
The Car
This is a driver, plated and being driven, perhaps a few hundred miles a year. All the lights work, heater, fan wipers, in good working order. AC car with all components installed most of them new. Refurbished AC control panel, in dash wiring harness, blower, hoses, reman compresser. AC car all components in place. New carpet, sound system.
New paint GM stealth grey. All of the jams and under hood areas also painted with new weather stripping everywhere. New lower Valence, and eyebrow insert. This is a driver car and the paint does look fabulous. High quality paint and clear coat really shows well. New wheel well trim, emblems, badges.
Interior is mostly original in great condition. Dark saddle color. No cracks in the dash, door panels show some wear and could use a few details but still look great. New steering wheel, carpet, reconditioned and chromed gear shifter, new package tray, stereo, new door hinge pins. The doors open and close like new, solid. Gauges all work perfect, even the clock worksworks.
New 17 inch black snowflake rims from year one, new center caps, new acorns. New 275-45-17 BF Goodrich Comp 2 ultra high performance tires.
New front suspention, upper and lower ball joints, poly control arm bushings, new tie rod ends, link pins, center link, idler arm, 2 inch lower in springs from Hodgkis engineering. Rear sway bar, 10 bolt posi rear end with the stock 2:56 gears. Set up for the street. Car has been alined and handles very well like a muscle car should, tires grip like you wouldn't believe.
New front rotors, pads. New rear drums, wheel cyl, shoes, hardware, and parking brake cable. New rear axle bearings, and fluid in Posi unit.
New BOP turbo 400 transmission from Jegs. New shift cable. New 3 inch true dual exhaust with chambered mufflers and long tube headers also from Jegs. Yes its sounds mean.
The Engine
Fresh built 1970 455 HO..... A Pontiac enthusiasts dream.
This engine was a limited production option for the GTO judge only in the last half of 1970. YA block code 1970 date code, origanal big valvle 64 heads Very limited production motor only 4147 ever cast as 4 bolt main, 10:25 to 1 high compression engine. The only high compression 455 Pontiac ever offered in a production car. Conservativly rated at 370 HP and 500 foot ponds of torque. I'm sure it does much better with the intake and exhaust setup on this car. Original D port 64 big valve heads. New Edelbrock AVS 800 cfm carb. New Edelbrock preformer intake, new air cleaner housing with fully functional Ram Air setup. Runs very well, strong, does not overheat even on a hot summer day.
Later model HO and SD motors all came with lower compression, less horsepower, less torque,.. Just sayin
In my opinion this motor is worth as much as the rest of the car.
New PS pump, hoses, fuel pump, throttle linkage, radiator, kickdown soliniod ignition wires....ect....ect
Love driving this car and no hurry to sell, car gets more valuable everyday.
Just a couple of odds and ends need attention on this car and it will be perfect.
