For Sale: 1963 Buick Wildcat in Manitowoc, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance.  I can assist with financing and transport as needed.

The Excecutive Hot Rod! I'm sure you've seen plenty of convertibles from the 1960's. Cadillacs and Impalas, Corvettes and GTOs, Mustangs and Satellites. But you probably haven't seen one like this rare 1963 Buick Wildcat convertible.

1963 was the first year for the Wildcat convertible. There were only 6,000 built, making them difficult to find today (especially in this condition). This particular car was sold new by Swanberg & Scheefe in Minneapolis, MN. Their dealer emblem remains on the trunk lid and the original owner's manual includes their stamp. Kind of neat.

It is clear this Wildcat was well cared for throughout the years, with ownership history to its original purchase. The car has never been through a concentrated restoration but rather received steady care and maintenance along the way. It is straight and solid throughout with its original floors and trunk. It was repainted its original Bronze Mist which is such a handsome color on this car, especially with the white top. Much of the chrome has been replated or replaced as well.

The engine is the original 401 cubic inch Nailhead V8 rated at 325 hp and 445 ft-lbs of torque (thus the "Wildcat 445" moniker). The transmission is Buick's ultra-smooth Turbine Drive automatic. There is power steering and power brakes with drums all around. Note Buick did not skimp when it came to drum brakes; they are huge and effective! Plenty of mechanical items that have been addressed over the years to keep the car in good working condition. Shocks and bushings. Center link and tie rod ends. Brake lines, master cylinder, and wheel cylinders. Axle seals, gas tank and fuel pump. Starter and motor mounts. Oil changes, tires, etc. It all makes for a roadworthy classic.

The factory Saddle Tan interior gives a classy look, especially with the top down. The carpeting has been replaced and there are new seat belts. Most everything else is original, which is hard to believe but a testament to quality materials and proper care. It still has the original console-mounted tachometer which works properly. There is also a factory speed alarm. The heater / defroster, radio, wipers, power top, dash lights, courtesy lights, and parking brake all work great.

Also included is a binder of information and receipts. There are judging sheets from the Buick Club of America where it scored a 368 out of 400 in 2011. There is a 1963 advertisement and Buick Accessory Guide along with copies of the Buick Bugle. Also this car was in the movie "A Serious Man" from 2010 and includes related documentation.

This really is a nice Buick. It has a sporty yet distinguished look along with a very comfortable ride. It has been well kept through the years and is in remarkable condition. And as a 1963 Wildcat convertible it represents a rare find as well.
