American trucks have built a well-deserved reputation for being
tough, virtually unbreakable workhorses. Through solid engineering
and fresh innovation, the vaunted F-Series has been a dominant
force in the world's largest automotive markets for close to 70
years. With that in mind, demand for classic trucks has never been
hotter. And that means, after a lifetime of dedicated service, more
and more of these gladiators are being retired to dry garages and
leisurely show fields. One such stalwart is this award-winning
F100. The beneficiary of comprehensive restoration, this awesome
pickup wraps a clean V8 and attractive red and white upholstery in
a proven platform that makes it a perfect candidate for miles of
parade and years of display. If you're in the market for a standout
classic, settle in and take a close look at this sweet Ford!
BODYWORK/TRIM
This cool F100, a solid Tennessee workhorse that's benefitted from
a frame-off, nut-and-bolt restoration, wears traditional red and
white 2-stage under a bleve of well-placed details. At the front of
those digs, a stylized grille hangs simple headlights between amber
parking lamps, bold "F O R D" lettering and a mirrored bumper. At
the sides of that grille, a tough profile parallels stylized trim
with chrome door handles, a traditional fuel filler and a familiar
array of "FORD 100" and "Ranger XLT" badging. At the top of that
profile, stainless window frames float pristine glass between matte
wipers and heavy-duty mirrors. And at the back of the truck, an
ornate, "F O R D" branded tailgate secures a factory short bed,
which hangs stainless-trimmed taillights over a second mirrored
bumper.
ENGINE
Hoist the hood and you'll find a correct, 390 cubic inch V8 that's
fully rebuilt and dressed to impress. Introduced in 1961 as a
reliable Ford and Mercury staple, this stout FE block remained one
of Dearborn's hottest factory options for many years. At the top of
the Ford Blue mill, a mirrored Edelbrock air cleaner passes wind
through a big Edelbrock carburetor to an aluminum Edelbrock intake.
Atomized octane floods correct, cast iron heads, which are capped
by mirrored Edelbrock valve covers and matching Edelbrock
breathers. At the front of those covers, a coated Sanden AC
compressor spins in unison with a correct fan while a correct
radiator keeps the block cool. Spark comes courtesy of 7mm Super
Mag plug wires, which are sequenced to a traditional points
distributor. And the truck's Gloss Black engine bay is dotted with
quality ancillaries like a rebuilt brake booster and an Optima gel
cell battery.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Naturally, that clean, road-ready mill precedes a clean, road-ready
chassis. Everything starts with a sturdy, factory-spec frame that
rolls on a fully rebuilt suspension. Behind the reliable FE, a
rebuilt 3-speed spins a tough 9-inch axle that's finished with 3.25
gears. Factory-style power steering makes parking easy and turns a
cinch. Stops are provided by power-assisted discs and drums.
Ceramic-coated headers feed fresh, 2.5-inch pipes, which are wired
through throaty Flowmaster mufflers and polished stainless tips.
And power meets the pavement through polished Pace wheels, which
twist 235/75R15 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S around chrome center
caps.
INTERIOR
When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a comfortable cockpit
that, in traditional truck fashion, features tastefully
conservative trim. Top dead center, a Candyapple dash plants a JVC
CD player between fully rebuilt telemetry and controls for the
truck's modern air conditioning. Opposite that ledge, a striped
bench seat features a retrofitted consolette. Opposite that rug, a
Dashtop Highliner frames four crisp speakers. And the driver traces
turns through a color-keyed, Ford-branded steering wheel.
The classic truck market has never been better, and offerings like
this cool F100 are a perfect testament why. With a reliable,
well-dressed drivetrain, a comfortable interior and attractive
factory lines, this Ford is guaranteed to gain fans everywhere it
goes. Looking for a standout cruiser that'll provide years of great
memories? Don't miss the chance to add this sweet pickup to your
collection!
