Vehicle Description
The boxy bodies of classic pickups like this 1986 Chevrolet
Silverado are now an iconic symbol of toughness. While most of
these have a no-nonsense appearance, this truck has the right
amount of custom touches to be an elegant bruiser.
The first part that strikes you about this full-size pickup is that
bold front end. The factory never put this face on Silverados, but
a few clever people in the custom car community realized that the
rare face Chevy gave to the final years of the K5 Blazer would also
fit on these trucks for a very distinctive and cool look.
Silverados are known for their bright trim, and this, combined with
the mirror-like bumpers, does a particularly nice job of adding
distinction to the sinisterly dark paint. That factory-correct
Midnight Blue looks particularly glossy because of the right
investment in a high quality respray. So now this midnight-themed
hue looks like it's consuming al the daylight around it. This mean
attitude is only heightened by the lowered stance on the large
20-inch BOSS wheels. But as much as this is a street-eating
machine, it can still pull real truck duty with the spray-in bed
liner sitting beneath the folding bed cover.
The interior retains the luxury image of the Silverado with plenty
of features you would want on any modem pickup. This includes power
windows, power locks, tilt steering wheel, sliding rear window, and
cruise control. Of course, you'll really love the cold-blowing air
conditioning that's running on modern R-134a for easy servicing.
Even with all these features, this truck still retains its cool
1986 attitude. This is seen on everything from the original full
gauge cluster, to the pattern on the blue vinyl bench seat. Even
the factory-correct AM/FM radio is still in place pumping out the
tunes.
The 305 cubic-inch V8 under the hood means that this relatively
lightweight pickup is lively on the road. And that makes it ready
for anything from mild to wild. This motor is legendary for being
quite adaptable, but right now it's charmingly original. In fact,
this mean-looking vintage pickup has a huge practical side that
includes the a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with
highway-friendly overdrive. transmission. So, if you were starting
to think that this is a great truck for all day cruising at any
speed, you'd be very right. This Silverado has comfortable features
such as power steering, power brakes with discs up front, grippy
low-profile Falken tires, and a 2.73 rear axle ratio that's built
for the highway.
Great looks mixed with the right comforts means this wild child is
wearing sensible shoes. The cherry on top is the affordable price.
