For sale, my 1962 Econoline Pickup with less than 100 miles on
the complete rebuild. Definitely an interesting option if you are
looking for a cool old truck, especially if you want to advertise
your business or have a fun surf wagon. It's been a 2 1/2 year
restoration project, with a healthy stack of part and services
receipts. I have not skimped in the restoration process. She has
about 50 miles on her since completion, just enough to get her all
dialed in. It's basically a new, 55 year old vehicle, and it drives
down the road straight and tight. It could be your daily driver if
you want, or keep it a papered toy like she is now. Practically
every nut or bolt has been either replaced (mostly with stainless
steel) or wire wheeled and painted or clear coated. Looking under
this truck, one would be impressed with the overall quality of the
finish. It looks practically new, yet has just the right amount of
old school patina on a few of the parts. All engine lines are brand
new. The suspension newly refreshed (unaltered stock set up),
including new shocks, and leaf spring bushings. The steering
components have been disassembled, cleaned, clear coated, and
professionally gone through. The all new upgraded front disc brakes
stop perfectly and smoothly. The differential is original, but
better than new with a new yoke, gasket, seal, fluid, custom drive
shaft, and transmission yoke. The fuel tank has been professionally
cleaned, sealed, and painted, along with the fuel gauge sending
unit. She has a new, rear mounted electric fuel pump. The
bed-mounted battery has all new custom made cables running
concealed through the frame rail with solid engine block grounding.
The frame undercarriage is virtually rust free (as is the entire
vehicle). The new D & D front disc brake conversion and dual
chamber master cylinder looks (and works) amazing, including
braided lines and brushed fittings. The rear brakes are all new,
with original Ford drums well within specs. It looks amazing
underneath. The important stuff;
A California truck, virtually rust free. It spent most of it’s life
in the desert. Newly and totally rebuilt 250 CI straight 6 with a
Clifford RV cam, Clifford header that splits into two, 38mm 2
barrel (450cfm) Weber carb with custom cool air intake, reliable GM
HEI pointless distributor, and 105 Amp chrome alternator, and
electric cooling fan. I'd estimate the output to be 175-200hp ish
with lots of torque. This engine, a completely rebuilt 70s vintage,
is about twice the power of factory stock, yet it retains the old
school feel of a straight 6. It has the same engine mounts as a
small V8 if someone wants to convert it. It sounds kinda like a
302, it definitely sounds like it has some attitude.
Rebuilt C4 3 speed automatic transmission. All brand new shifting
linkage and kick down cable that downshifts just right. She shifts
smoothly and appropriately, but has a performance shift kit with a
positive shifting feel. Brand new, polished Champion Radiator, with
high flow Summit Racing pusher fan, with polished JEGS
recirculating overflow canister. The way I have her set up, the
temp gauge generally does not get past half-way hot.
All gauges, blinkers, and horn work perfectly, and NOS or brand new
components were used whenever replacement parts were warranted. The
stock seats have been professionally reupholstered in nice leather
(smells great), as have the matching door panels. New arm rests,
head liner, and side cab liner. Polished stainless fasteners used
wherever possible. All window and door cranks look nice, and work
properly. The interior feels tight and cleanly done. The
heater/defroster and wipers works perfectly with NOS and
reconditioned parts. The entire interior is well insulated, and
well put together. It's quiet and cool in the cab. It's old school
stock, yet improved to modern levels of comfort.
The glass is perfect all around, with a nice tint. New glass rubber
all around.
Brand New BFG TA Radial 15" tires, with larger ones on the back for
a nice, old school rake, yet totally stock suspension heights
otherwise, nothing has been chopped or altered. Ultra, Centerline
style aluminum wheels. Custom exhaust system, with perfect sound.
It's a 2 into one, over the axle passenger side concealed rear
outlet. Custom electrical box with relays and fuse box to
accommodate the new electric items, fitted into the glove box.
Nice shiny red paint, with decent body, no rust. Tail gate works,
and the bed is clear coated for protection over the natural rust
free bed.
Overall, she runs very well and trouble free, totally turn-key, and
would make some business a nice rolling advertisement. Could be a
daily driver. VIN matches the clean title I have in hand
