Packard Twelve. Packard Automobiles defined the standard of luxury
for all American cars in the Automotive industry. In the 1930's
Packard's elegant offerings were on top of the luxury car market
being purchased by only the wealthiest and royal people in the
world. The Packard Twelve was so smooth on the road it earned the
tagline "Boss of the Road". In the age of pre-war luxury, the
Twelve was faster than all other offerings from marques such as
Cadillac and Pierce Arrow By the 1930's Packard had developed some
of the best V12 engines on the market. This roadster has the 473
cubic inch L-head V12 engine, certainly was at the pinnacle of
performance in 1937 producing 175bhp. The Twelve's drivetrain and
suspension underwent its most dramatic redesign in the model's
history. The new model redesign included such changes as, a new
3-speed synchromesh, "Safe-T-Flex" independent front suspension, a
proven hydraulic brake system, vacuum assisted clutch and steel
disk wheels. These improvements lead to the Packard Twelves being
widely regarded as some of the most driver-friendly cars of the
Classic Era. Of the Packard Twelves, the open body styles are
considered the most desirable are only rarely offered for sale. For
over 50 years, this gorgeous Roadster was cherished in a collection
of well-known Southern California collector. �Prior to the sale of
the car by its previous caretaker, the decision was made to have a
professional frame off restoration done on his two owner Roadster.
This restoration was done to concours standards being well
documented throughout with photographs and receipts. The frame off
restoration involved a high level of detail, including duplicating
such details as the factory pinstripe patterning, a correct leather
interior and a properly detailed engine bay. Also, the car includes
the factory accessories including: a heater, a trunk rack, a
correct 30-gallon fuel gauge indicator, a factory-installed AM
radio, under-car antenna and chrome wheel covers that are complete
with their Packard emblems. This Roadster is a known, genuine and
highly rare classic with only 69 built like it. This Packard Twelve
is also highly original and still wears the original firewall tag.
It's a two-owner vehicle with a record of history dating back to
the 1950's. Attributed to its impeccable restoration it has gone on
to win the CCCA Senior Premier status and AACA National First
