For muscle enthusiasts, the early 1970s were a magical time.
Heavy-duty horsepower lurked under the hood, and some of the most
striking colors ever used on any automobile were the norm. At the
forefront of this marketing trend was the Chrysler Corporation, and
one of the premiere performance products was the Cuda AAR.
This Plymouth `Cuda has the uncommon AAR option, being one of 2,724
built for one year only. The model was in recognition of Dan
Gurney's All-American Racing team participating in the
ultra-competitive Trans Am Series with their AAR race-prepared
`Cudas driven by Dan and teammate Swede Savage.
Frame-off restored and finished in factory high-impact In Violet
paint, this AAR is reported as being an Arizona car that has been
enjoyed by the same owner for the past 20 years. It is powered by
the renowned (and reported original) 340-cid V-8 engine that is
fitted with (and confirmed by the VIN) a three, two-barrel Six
Pack' carburetor setup. The interior is presented with black bucket
seats and also has a console-shift automatic transmission. Front
and rear spoilers, a black, scooped factory fiberglass hood, Rallye
dash, dual body-color sport mirrors with driver's side remote,
Rallye wheels, new BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, hood tie-downs, AAR
graphics, quick-ratio steering, Sure Grip posi-traction rear end,
side exhaust, drip rail and deck moulding treatments, tachometer,
AM radio, longitudinal stripes and a 26-inch radiator are also
desirable elements listed as being on this exciting example of
Mopar muscle. The same sheet listing the cars various equipment
also states this AAR as being one of 1,604 that came with this
engine and transmission package when new.
