All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance. I can assist with financing and transport as needed.
You just don't see many first generation Monte Carlos. And
that's a shame. Cars like this triple black 1971 model, with its
numbers-matching LS3 402 cubic inch motor, were a splendid
combination of big block power and sporty yet elegant lines. I
think they represent a tremendous bargain in today's market.
This terrific example was built in Kansas City in December 1970.
The original build sheet and owner's manual are included. The
underside is free of any rust issues, while the smooth and straight
exterior was repainted black (originally Classic Copper). The black
vinyl top has been replaced as well. All chrome and moldings are in
nice shape, and the Rally wheels look great too. The windows have
also been tinted to tie in with the black theme.
This Monte Carlo has its original 402 ci motor with the matching
VIN stamp and CLB suffix. This is the same 300hp motor that powered
the SS396 Chevelle. It is somewhat rare in the Monte Carlo,
representing less than 10% of production. This motor has some
performance upgrades, including a gear driven camshaft, Edelbrock
RPM Air Gap intake manifold, square bore carburetor with electric
choke, and long tube headers.
The engine feeds a TH400 automatic transmission followed by a
12-bolt rear axle with 2.73 gears and Positraction. Of course,
being a Monte Carlo you also get power steering and power front
disc brakes.
The interior is done in code 708 Black Rapallo Cloth and is in very
nice condition. The seats, door panels, and headliner (with
shoulder belts) all look terrific. There is also new carpet along
with Dynamat. The woodgrain accents are a really nice touch on the
Monte Carlo, adding a bit of class. There is an aftermarket stereo
and set of gauges. Also note this is a bench seat car with seating
for six. Add in the 70's style shoulder straps and you've got a
load of seat belts.
This is a somewhat rare Monte Carlo with its numbers-matching big
block and factory build sheet. It has the distinguished look of a
Monte Carlo and offers a great ride along with a few performance
upgrades. And where else can you get a Chevelle SS396 drivetrain
for this kind of price?
