Motors and Chicago Car Club are pleased to present this 1979 Ford
Thunderbird! Exterior: Polar White paint is original throughout, as
confirmed with an elcometer. There are no spots of touch up paint
anywhere on the car. There are only a couple very minor blemishes
in the original paint, including a few small chips on the headlight
covers (consistent with the 11k miles), and a light scuff on the
rear bottom corner of the driver door. Please see the photos, as
these blemishes are evidenced with close-ups. Polar white looks
absolutely phenomenal in contrast with the red pinstripes and red
leather interior. Paint shines bright and shows no clear coat fade
or aging; it's very clear that this car was garage-kept and babied
since it was purchased new in Chicago, where it has remained ever
since. Chrome is excellent throughout; there is no oxidation or
damage to any of the chrome - bumpers, rocker trim, and door trim
are all in fantastic shape. All lights, including lower fogs, are
clear and crack-free, as is all glass. There are no wiper streaks
or nicks on the windshield. Wheels are in as-new condition with no
curb rash, and still wear their original Goodyear rubber. Tires,
though obviously quite old, show no rot whatsoever and still retain
80+ percent tread. Overall, the condition of the exterior is
extremely impressive. This is a true survivor car that has been
unbelievably well-preserved. Interior: The interior presents much
like the exterior, phenomenally well. Dark Red ultra-soft leather
truly does not show any signs of aging or wear, and neither does
the dark red carpeting. There is no color fade whatsoever, and
seats are free of any scuffs or tears. There are no dash cracks or
warping in the plastic. All powered systems work without fault. Air
conditioning (R134a) blows cold, heat and defrost blow hot, and all
gauges are functional. Powered seats, locks, antenna, original
radio, and windows are all functional and operate without any fuss.
The car is equipped with cruise control, as well as an alarm system
with a push-button kill switch mounted under the dash. Headliner is
tight, and the rear seats don't look to have ever been used. Under
the Hood: This 79 T-Bird retains its original Windsor 351cid 2V V8
and FMX Automatic with just 11,766 miles. Under the hood, the car
presents very nicely. All stickers and markings are still in place
and clearly legible. Shortly after taking the car out of the garage
where we had purchased it from, we went for an hour-long stretch of
the legs to get acquainted. The car felt fantastic. It starts right
up, tracks straight, brakes straight and effectively, and shifts
nice and smooth. There were no tendencies or noises of any concern.
The car stayed cool while sitting in Chicago traffic, and is
extremely quiet from behind the wheel. I wouldn't hesitate to drive
the car anywhere in the country. Underbody: Please take a look
through the underbody photos, as it is documented in detail. The
car looks excellent from underneath. Factory undercoating has held
up very well. There is absolutely no rust, surface or through, and
no damage. Overall, this 79 T-Bird is just about as nice as they
come. So many of these cars were street parked and driven into the
ground, not this one. This one-owner, extremely low mile and
original example is sure to make the next owner very, very happy
regardless of if they purchase with the intention of daily-driving
or retiring to their collection. Please feel free to reach out to
