Vehicle Description
Constructed at the Maranello Works in 1965 with alloy bodywork,
left hand steering and high performance 6 carburettor setup. The
car was shipped to Swedish Ferrari Concessionaire Tore Bjurstrom
who in turn supplied it to the first owner, Sture Nottorp, a
well-known and favoured client of Ferrari on May 5th 1966.
Finished in beautiful Blu Notte coachwork and all Red leather hide
with grey carpeting. According to noted Ferrari historian Marcel
Massini, Nottorp had planned to enter the 1966 Monte Carlo Rally
with the car as the late Gerald Roush's notes indicate the GTB was
ordered with upgraded V12 engine, 6 Carburettors, uprated cylinder
heads, camshafts and valves and correspondingly adjusted ignition
timing. GTO type exhaust manifolds were fitted and mated to an
Abarth competition exhaust system and 15'' GTB/C competition outer
laced Borrani's.
In an unusual departure from normal Ferrari practice, Carrozzeria
Scagliettii modified the GTB's nose and grille with four additional
large driving lights fitted across the grille opening. A special
custom grille was added and a pair of square fog lights were fitted
in lieu of the front bumpers at the behest of Nottorp as it he was
known for suffering poor vision in the dark.
The GTB did not participate in the Monte Carlo rally in the end but
was displayed at the 1966 Goteborg Sports Car Show. The GT passed
from Nottorp's ownership to another couple of Swedish custodians
and by 1973 the car returned to Maranello where the unconventional
lighting and grille arrangement were removed and returned to
standard.
The car remained in private ownership in Sweden until 1994 when it
was sold to the USA and has remained there until recently. The car
was recently the subject of a body off concours standard
restoration, fully documented in a bespoke hardback book printed by
Assouline and recently featured in Octane magazine.
A multiple platinum award winning example and with Ferrari
Classiche Certification, this alloy 6 carburettor long nose is
arguably the most desirable specification of 275 GTB extant. It is
understood to be one of 38 long nose Alloy cars built from a total
of 94 alloy cars. Presented in outstanding condition throughout and
original and desirable colours, it simply doesn't get better than
this. Please contact us for more details.
