are pleased to present this 1984Hurst Olds Cutlass Calais!
Exterior: This car presents very, very well. Please take a good
look through the photos, as the car is documented in detail. The
body is is phenomenal shape, there are absolutely no dents or
scratches. An elcometer indicates that the car is in mostly
original paint, with readings of 6.5-9.0 all around. WE do note
some paint on the right fender and paint blending onto the door.
The finish is very nice throughout, though there is a visible tape
line on the forward portion of the passenger door. It looks like
they repaired the passenger fender and when they went to color
match the door they only cleare coated back to the Hurst decal so
as not to replace it. We do have a set of door decals if they buyer
would like to correct the blend line. Pinstripes are in excellent
condition, with the only blemish being a touched-up scuff in the
red portion at the lower driver rear corner. We also note thining
clear coat on the hood, possibly a result of buffing. We left it
alone because overall the car looks great. This is a
factory-equipped T-top car, which we love. All glass is clear and
free of nicks or wiper markings. Factory correct chrome wheels are
in excellent shape as well, with no curb rash or oxidation. Panel
gaps are all dead-on. Interior: Dark Maple interior contrasts
beautifully with the Light Slate exterior. Seats are in great shape
throughout, with no tears or scuffs. Dash has a partial crack in
the center; the car will come with a Dark Maple Hurst branded dash
cover resting on top. All faux wood is intact and crack free. Six
way powered driver's seat is comfortable and functional, heat blows
hot, air conditioning blows though not cold (R12), Kenwood stereo
is functional, as are the electric door locks and all gauges. This
car has the famous Lightning Rod shifters, which are always a
conversation starter. The car is an automatic, but has two
additional shifters for manually putting the car in first and
second gear, which traces back to the car's drag-racing roots. The
T-top is a great interior feature and makes the car a perfect
summer driver; the glass top is easily removed by pulling two
interior levers. Mechanical: In most respects, the 83 and 84
Hurst Olds were mechanically identical. They both were equipped
with a 307cid 4BBL V-8, 3.73 gearing, and dual exhausts. However,
for 84, the car received a stronger 8.5" rear end. This particular
car has covered 68,736 over the course of its 33 year life. Under
the hood, this car is very clean. There are very few signs of age;
belts and hoses don't show any dry cracking or wear, and there is
no excess grime or evidence of age. On the road, the car feels
fantastic. There are absolutely no tendencies of concern. It starts
right up, tracks straight, pulls hard through the gears, handles
very well (optioned with LSD), and the brakes reel it in nicely.
While optioned with the "firm ride" suspension, the car eats up
potholes and speedbumps without hesitation. Underbody: As evidenced
in the photos, the underbody is quite nice. There is no rust of any
sort. All casting numbers are clearly visible and components show
very little wear. We note that the exhaust was replaced at some
point probably due to age. All bushings, ends, and linkages all
show very nicely. The car is as nice underneath as it is everywhere
else. The car was kept in a dry garage while residing in North
Dakota and it shows. CALL FOR MORE DETAILS
