For Sale: 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in Danville, Illinois

Vehicle Description

I am the original and only owner of this 1977 Pontiac Trans Am, which was ordered in February 1977 from Neeb Motor Sales in Elmore, OH after I fell in love with it at the 1977 Detroit Auto Show. Because Pontiac had to build the car and then send it to Hurst to have the T-top and 4 speed installed, I did not take delivery until June 1977. I put 3,000 miles on the car during the 3 years I lived in Millbury, OH. Vehicle was then trucked to my new job in Kansas City, where in the 16 years I lived there I put on another 11,000 miles. I spent the next 20 years in Danville, IL and have put less than 1,000 miles on it since 1997. I did start the car every 4 months to keep the fluids moving, but it was stored on jack stands and I only took it down once a year to have the oil changed at my local NAPA outlet.

Car has never been raced or wrecked, and is all original except the parts that wear out and need replacing. During the last oil change the dealer found a leak in the gas line and repaired it. However, car still has its original brakes and exhaust and the original 6.6 Liter Pontiac engine as delivered to me in June 1977.  The only things not original are tires, battery, hoses and belts that aged out, and the fluids. But nothing else has been modified, upgraded, or customized. Car has never been driven during the months of November through March. It does have one door ding and a couple of scratches that have been rubbed out or touched up with that little bottle of paint the size of nail polish, but car has never been repainted. Somehow, I managed to put a split in the driver’s side floor carpet, but a floor mat would cover that up. I did not order air conditioning because I knew I would only drive it with the t-tops off and it still has the original AM/FM radio.

I have moved back to the Kansas City area and I have reluctantly decided the TA will not make the trip. Its spot in the garage in Missouri is going to a recently purchased Porsche Boxster. Therefore, I am selling the TA from my other house I still own in Illinois, about 90 miles due west from the Indianapolis Speedway.  I added a couple of new photos taken when I was back at the Illinois home the end of April.  Unfortunately, I left the key in Missouri, so I could only take the additional photos while the TA was still on jack stands in the garage.
