Vehicle Description
1953 Pontiac chieftain. Texas car. Hydramatic transmission (option
) 268 in line 8 cylinder. Believed to be 30,000 original miles.
Nice repaint some years back but still show fresh. Chrome and all
bright work new or re-done. Newer Coker wide white radials. The
previous owner went through all of the fluid systems, (the car sat
for awhile before he bought it). He installed New wheel cylinders,
changed tranny fluid. Found that number 7 cylinder was low on
compression so he pulled head and found bad rings (probably seized
due to sitting) He dismantled engine and installed new rod bearings
and mains. cylinders were clean but turned crank anyway. Carb. was
also rebuilt. Reassembled and tuned. Car runs perfectly and
dependably. Has original bill of sale and owners book. Only known
issue is on cold start there is a slight exhaust manifold leak that
goes away when engine is at operating temp. Horn does not work.
Converted to 12 volt system. Chrome is perfect! Only has a few
hundred miles since engine was redone.
